I've set myself a deadline. I'm recording in January/February. Sometime within those two months, I will record a new CD. Thus say I!
Giving myself a deadline means that I have a certain amount of time to write, and I always do better with a deadline, always. I've made a pact with myself (and told other people as well) that I won't wait til two weeks before the deadline to start writing... and to that end, I've already started with some ideas, and will hopefully have about 3 songs done in the next week or two. Yippee!
Things have been busy, and they're about to get busier. I don't think it'll slow down anytime soon. Til at least January. Adam will be out of school for the semester in a few weeks, but then we'll have traveling, and family stuff for the holidays. I'm looking forward to it, because even though it will be busy, it will also be relaxing, and a chance to relax and have fun... Traveling to New Johnsonville and Pensacola for Christmas/Thanksgiving will be like vacations.
I have to go to work now... Sigh. :)

It's been awhile..
So yeah, I haven't written in awhile, but things have been insanely busy, and I haven't been sure what to write. I'm cooking up a post and will probably post this weekend, but for now, I'm working on it. :)

"Gust 2008"
So, we don't have power. We're at a Heine Bros. about 5 minutes away from our house, but most of our subdivision doesn't have power. It could be days, or weeks til we get it, there are apparently about a half million people in Louisville/Jefferson County that don't have power.
Adam was going to substitute today somewhere in JCPS (Jefferson Co. Public Schools), but schools are closed, and so we're going to hang out at the house, take the dogs for a walk, read, etc. I'm glad we're not dependent on means of entertainment that are solely powered by electricity. We have a lot of candles, and our community group tonight should be fun. :) A few students are coming for piano lessons today, and a few aren't.
After we're done here at the coffee shop, we'll go home, and Adam has homework, and I have books, and a piano, so today should be fine. We don't have many perishables at the house, except for some yogurt and hamburger meat. I checked the refrigerator earlier, and it was still cold, so we're going to grill the hamburger tonight. That way it doesn't go to waste, and we'll have fun making dinner.
It's nice to slow down, every once in awhile, even if it is inconvenient. I'll be happy when the power comes back on, and the sooner the better, but I'm ok if it takes a few days.
As an aside, there's a big burly guy sitting outside charging his phone, and it's a bright hot pink RAZR. I find it kind of hilarious. :)

Oh my goodness!
Things are so busy. For the first time ever, I need a daytimer/calendar to keep me straight!
I started reading Mysteries of Udolpho by Ann Radcliffe, for a book club a few friends of mine just started up. It's fun, so far, though I'm not far into it. I read the first chapter last night, and I'm hoping to get at least one more chapter in today.
I've been getting more calls for piano lessons lately, and I'm definitely waaaaay excited about that. Hopefully with one or two more students, I'll be able to stop driving on Tuesdays, and teach on Monday and Tuesday, and drive Wednesday-Friday. whee!
I'll try and post more later, as I should have some free time this evening while Adam is at his UL classes.

50/90
Yesterday was the start of 50/90 : an endeavour to write 50 songs in 90 days. There are quite a few people participating, and I found out about it about a week ago. I've been compiling ideas, and I'm hoping to get pretty near the goal. I have until Oct. 1st.
I'm thinking about trying to a do a few concept pieces, one of which Noel suggested, that I'm fairly interested in. I need to research a bit, and in the meantime, make use of a few other ideas I've come up with.
Any ideas for me?
I'm hoping to record a CD by the end of the year, as I'm long overdue. I've grown so much, stylistically and otherwise, in my piano playing and singing abilities, and I'm excited to see what happens next.
Here goes nothin'!

Happy 4th!
Adam and I are out at my parents' house, watching Sergeant York. Awesome movie... grew up with it, so it's incredibly nostalgic. :)
I didn't get up to a 1/2 mile, but I will by week's end, Lord willing. I want to run a 5k in October/November, if I can find one. We'll see.
At any rate, Happy 4th, and I'll post more later this weekend. :)

Bummer.
I didn't get up to a half mile this week, but I almost did.
My legs weren't about to let me get away with pushing them that far, so I only added a little bit. I'll for sure have it by the end of this coming week. I only have one more 1/8 mile section of the half mile loop left, and I'll be good to go!
Adam's sister Laurel is in town, and we're hanging out and showing her around Louisville. She leaves tomorrow, so it's a short visit, but it's fun. :)
I joined a group called 50/90 the other day. It's a 50 songs in 90 days challenge (http://5090.fawm.org/), from July 4th through the 1st of October. I'm gonna give it a good run, even though I think it might be a little much for me... It'll be good for getting me back in the habit of writing.
I'll post more in a few days, when things quiet down.

It's Early!
I was up at 6:45 this morning! I don't remember the last time I got up this early and felt this energetic.
I took the day off running yesterday, and we took the dogs for a walk instead. That was nice, gave my sore legs a rest! I'm pretty sure I'll be able to push myself up to a 1/2 mile by the end of the week, but we'll see. I may end up taking one more day off, instead of running the next six, only because Adam will be home in the morning over the next few days, and that makes me want to stay around the house. We will still take the dogs for a walk, if it's nice.
I've got some dishes to do from yesterday, and some cleaning up around the house before my students get here later. I'm doing a make-up lesson this morning, and then it's summer break, as far as piano teaching goes. I'll have the next two weeks off, and we'll start back the 7th of July. Yay!
I'm also driving the next 5 days, as I'm filling in for one of the other drivers on a different route, while she's on vacation. I usually only work Wed-Fri. Having my mornings free, however, will be wonderful. Tomorrow I'm hoping to spend some good time on the piano, and see what happens, as far as writing goes.
I'm having trouble deciding what I want to do with the next CD. I've been thinking about getting one done by the end of the year, but I'm not sure if that'll happen yet or not. I've got several different kinds of songs, about 5-6 ready to go, but they're about half and half in type. We'll see. I just need to write more and see what comes out.
Anyway, Noel's almost here, and she's gonna go running with me this morning. We're talking about doing a 5k or something, in the spring.
Signing off!

Running
I started running today. I did about a 1/4 mile, which is a big deal, for not having run for a long time.
I've set a goal to run 2-3 miles in 2 months, and I'm pretty sure that I can do it. I found a couple training programs, and they look pretty good, after doing some research. So here goes!
The Lord is teaching me about discipline, and I'm getting better... I've been writing more, and playing my piano more, and setting aside more time in the Word, and to read... I'm rediscovering my love of books, and I'm excited!
I'm reading Orthodoxy again, since the last time I read it was 3 or 4 years ago, and then I want to read Kite Runner. Adam and I watched the movie, and it was fantastic, so now I'm reading the book.
Any suggestions on things to read, once I'm finished with those??

Busy!
God's doing a lot.. There's soooo much going on!
This weekend is going to be pretty much non stop, starting tonight.
I've been journaling a lot more in the last week, which has been good for my clarity of mind and my inspiration. I've found that if I'm writing in my journal regularly, I have more consistent inspiration to write songs.
I've also been doing a cleanse, and I'm feeling so much healthier as I get further along in it.
I'll write more later this weekend, I hope. :)

Things..
I missed some old friends tonight. It's funny how many of them I have.
:-/
I'm also getting in the swing of things with some running. This week will be much more consistent.
Now if I can only get into a habit of writing/blogging. I remember how much I used to enjoy it, I just haven't made the time to sit down and do it again.

I'm so ashamed..
I haven't been keeping up with my blog like I said I would.
That is going to change, I promise. I've made a deal with myself to write more, and this is part of that deal.
So consider this a heads up. Also, keep reminding me to post. It may take a bit to get into enough of a habit with it.

In Honor of Ice Storms
It's beautiful out today, even if it is cold and bad driving weather. The ice storm from yesterday afternoon and evening coated all the trees with ice and icicles, and everything looks like it's been frosted over. I hate cold, but the way it looks outside right now almost makes me change my mind.
At any rate, I was reading in my devotions this morning, and came across this Psalm, and I thought it particularly appropriate, and therefore I am posting it here.
How great is our God!
Psalm 147:12-20 (also, the whole rest of the Psalm is amazing.. :))
Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion!
For He has strengthened the bars of your gates; He has blessed your sons within you.
He makes peace in your borders; He satisfies you with the finest of the wheat.
He sends forth His command to the earth; His word runs very swiftly.
He gives snow like wool; He scatters frost like ashes.
He casts forth His ice as fragments; Who can stand before His cold?
He sends forth His word and melts them; He causes His winds to blow and the waters to flow.
He declares His words to Jacob, His statutes and ordinances to Israel.
He has not dealt thus with any nation; And as for His ordinances, they have not known them.
Praise the Lord!

Valentime's day
Adam's parents are in town for the weekend, they got in last night.
Adam and I did a bit of V-day celebrating early, this past Monday; we got take out from Panera, bought a season of The Office, and stayed in. It snowed quite a bit that night, and it was Adam's first "real" snow. We had lots of slush the next morning... whee!
Jack (my boston terrier) loved the snow. When we let our dogs out Tuesday morning, he went crazy. Sally, being a priss, didn't want to play, but Jack ran around and around anyway, and then started eating snow.
The snow is mostly melted, but the temperature's warmed and then dropped, so the snow melted and then froze over, so it was mostly ice. Which is not good, for a person of my precarious balancing capability. However, now it's mostly melted into slush, which is better.
At any rate, I'm signing off.
